24 Credit Recovery Diploma Option


English – 4 credits English courses must include major concentration of composition and literature.
Mathematics – 3 credits Must include Algebra I or a series of course equivalent to Algebra.
Science – 3 credits Two of the science credits must include a laboratory component.
Social Studies – 3 credits One credit in world history, One credit in American history, a half of credit in American government and half of credit in economics.
Practical Arts
/Performing Arts - 1 credit
One credit practical arts career/technical education or one credit performing fine arts or a half a credit in practical arts and half a credit in performing fine arts.
Life Management/ Skills and
Study and Test-Taking Skills - 0.5 credit.
0.5 credit course Personal Health/Life Management .
Computer Literacy – 0.5 credit These courses shall include basic keyboarding, navigation of Microsoft Windows, exposure to Micrrosoft Office Applications, and familiarity with use of the internet and e-mail processes.
Reading – 1 Credit These courses shall include research based reading strategies such as phonemic awareness, word fluency, and comprehension.
Physical Education – 1 credit To include a half of credit personal fitness and a half of credit physical education.
Electives – 7 credits Credits are available in college-level career and technical and/or academic courses.
 Total – 24 credits.

 


Grade Point Average (GPA) Requirements

In career and technical courses, a 2.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale must be maintained. Additionally a cumulative GPA in all courses of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale must be maintained.


State Assessment Requirements

Earn passing scores on the Grade 10 FCAT.


Dual Enrollment

Dual enrollment credit will is available in postsecondary career and technical courses. See the Florida Coast Career Tech catalog for more information about Dual Enrollment.


GED/FCAT Diploma Option


GED Preparation

Non-graded instructional modules designed to prepare students for the official GED exam. Students must be enrolled in intensive reading and intensive math.


Post secondary Career and Technical Courses

Dual enrollment credit is available in career and technical areas. Students must complete 7 credits in college-level career and technical and/or academic courses. All other credits are waived.


Pre-GED Exam Requirements

Students enrolled in the GED/FCAT exit option must take the General Education Development (GED) pre-test before they can take the GED exam. In order to take the GED pre-test, students must:


  • Learn passing grade in at least two Pathways GED courses and
  • Learn passing grade in all college courses.

Assessment Requirements

Pass both the GED exam and the FCAT or, if legislated, earn scores on a standardized test that are concordant with passing scores on the FCAT as defined in s.1008.22 (9) F.S.


Grade Point Average (GPA) Requirements

A GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale must be maintained in all college courses. In all other courses the GPA requirement is waived.
